Philanthropic Services for the sports community

collaborating with
advisors

MVP Giving clients and prospects have many people who provide advice and counsel to help them navigate opportunities and obligations; some of these are paid professionals and many are parents, friends, coaches, athletic departments, franchises and other well-meaning associates. We are often invited to the table by a member of this circle, and we believe partnering with solid, honest advisors helps create a holistic, thoughtful approach to providing superior services to our shared clients.

MVP GIVING welcomes conversations with other advisors and is open to considering potential collaborations in the following categories:

♦  Agents | Attorneys | Financial Advisors

We are often contacted by these professionals and asked to aid them in providing philanthropic advice that goes beyond routine charitable donations. The requests for support vary from direct client referrals, joint client meetings to determine fit, to providing philanthropic education to their internal staff, to being presented as the “in-house” philanthropic counsel.

♦  Collegiate Athletic Departments | Coaches

As NIL has come to dominate the collegiate landscape, athletic departments are wrestling with what this means and trying to keep up with the constant whirl of change. Some athletic directors and/or individual coaches are creating annual or seasonal meetings with student athletes, parents and/or guardians to introduce them to the wide variety of advisors who can provide critical advice as they enter a financial space that is mind-boggling for most. MVP Giving enjoys being a part of a conversation, panel or workshop with other advisors, sharing how smart philanthropy can be one component of the financial strategies before them. We believe the most successful meetings are those that aim to provide athletes and their families with solid starter information, allow time for robust Q&A and are not sales opportunities for the speakers.

♦  Collegiate & High School NIL Advisors

This is new territory and the people in this space may be the same as above or connected in a different way. These advisors seek the support of MVP Giving in the same ways mentioned above. Additionally, we provide philanthropic education and counsel to these advisors, helping them understand the charitable landscape, basic dos and don’ts, along with tailored presentations and workshops for their staff and clients.

♦  Corporate Sponsors

Corporate sponsors sometimes want to introduce a charitable aspect to their sponsorship plans, whether for a mutual client, someone new to MVP Giving or a team/group of their clients. We will join in conversations that seek to benefit the target audience in an authentic way for everyone involved. If we are supporting a current or potential client, MVP Giving will ensure the plans reflect their charitable values and intentions. We provide advice on process, options for giving, research potential beneficiaries and serve as the go-between which is usually anonymous representation in the beginning. We also provide continued follow-up to determine the impact of the charitable gifts to help the sponsor and client determine if this was an effective way to elevate and amplify their relationship.

♦  Family | Friends | Associates

Our clients have tight inner circles of family, friends and associates, and we recognize and honor the commitment, loyalty and—above all—the love they have for their person. We understand their first priority is to protect and ensure their child, sibling, spouse, best friend or former student athlete is surrounded by people who will hold their confidences and focus on building and maintaining trusting relationships. Our clients often designate a family member to be the direct contact with MVP Giving and we work with them in the manner designated by the client. We consider it a privilege to walk alongside those who are closest to our clients and will always respect and value their relationships, opinions and ideas.

♦  Advisor Meetings

Many of our clients have chosen to surround themselves with multiple advisors who advocate for their best interests; including attorneys, registered agents, financial advisors, executive assistants and household managers. However, these advisors often work in silos; we believe our clients are best served when they meet with their full team every six months, or at least annually. Sometimes these meetings are assembled without a designated manager to plan and prepare for a successful meeting which is stressful for all involved. MVP Giving can provide meeting management for our clients; we review your goals for the meeting, determine the priorities of each advisor, create a detailed, timed agenda with calls to action for all present, distribute meeting packets in advance and provide everything necessary for the clients to successfully lead the meeting. We will ensure minutes are recorded; including action steps and requests for information and will distribute to all participants in a timely basis.

working together

We listen to learn. Your life experiences, values, passions and opinions about the world create the foundation for our work together.

First, we learn from you what you care most about and how you want to change the world for the better. Then we go to work.

We focus on the details, research and processes so you do not have to. MVP is your philanthropic representative and investigator, allowing you to remain anonymous while we research, evaluate opportunities and propose options for your giving that align with your priorities and have the greatest impact.

We continue the work by implementing the options you approve, following through with all the details and providing updates on how your gifts are impacting the community.

SCOPE OF SERVICES

We are dedicated to providing advice, guidance and implementation of your philanthropic plans and welcome invitations to meet and connect with the other professionals on your team: agents, attorneys, financial planners, wealth advisors, etc. In our experience, this allows you to take advantage of the unique talents each person offers, which cannot fully be replicated by those without the same industry expertise. This type of collaboration leads to a thoughtful, holistic approach by your professionals resulting in unparalleled services for your benefit.

Charitable Assets

We recommend our clients work with a trusted financial advisor to determine how much money you have available for your annual giving and the best way to set aside these dollars. Your advisor may recommend establishing a donor-advised fund which is typically the most effective way to create a foundation without the significant legal and tax burdens of having your own 501c3 organization. We can provide information to help explain the different ways you can organize your charitable dollars, the pros/cons of each and help you plan a list of questions to discuss with your financial advisor so you can decide what works best for your personal situation.

Fees

MVP Giving fees are based on the complexity of your unique plan, the time needed to meet your goals and our rigorous commitment to delivering outstanding results. We know our clients like options when determining how to engage with us. Your proposal will include detailed, transparent and personalized information about the benefits and impact of selecting either our hourly rate, a project fee or a subscription for philanthropic expertise and support throughout a calendar year. We will never surprise you with hidden charges or transactions.
